Thank you for your Christmas greeting Jane, and for your Christmas decoration memories.

The tree decorations are a great source of happy memories in most houses, I think. In the 1970s, I used to go to London late in October, with a friend, and we would always visit Harrods. The only thing we could afford to buy was a decoration for our Christmas trees, and a couple of these still survive. My daughters have them now.

One is "Foxy" - a gold bauble with a head shaped like a fox. His tail has fallen off but we still know he's a fox, and my grandson loves him, even though Foxy's over 35 years old now. Another is a little red partridge, should be in the pear tree really. He lives in Edinburgh now, and is still quite smart. Not sure how he really resembles a partridge as he has a very glamorous gold tail.

I'm just decorating my Christmas Tree. It is a tree of memories. I have
decorations from when our children were young, decorations from when I was
young, and decorations from all over the world bought when we've been on
holiday. Each time I hang a decoration on the tree, I know where it has
come from, and I 'remember'. This year we have a new Chinese decoration
(yes, I know, most decorations will be made in China these days!, but this
one was actually bought in China). The oldest, and most loved, decoration I
have is one that was on my mother's tree when she was young. She was born
in 1919. It is slightly decrepid and a bit broken, but it gets wrapped
carefully in cotton wool each year, and I love to get it out. She spent her
childhood in Birkenhead, so there is a loose connection to the List!

Best wishes, and a very Happy Christmas, and a peaceful, healthy New Year to
everyone.

Jane
