Hello again!
As I outlined in my recent introduction to your list I am researching the
SAYER families of Kirk Leavington, North Otterington, Appleby Wiske, Birkby
(Hutton Bonville, Lovesome Hill) in the hope of finding more about the
parents (James Sayer/Elizabeth Wood, North otterington) of my gggg
grandfather Michael sayer (b. 1742 Kirk leavington - d. 1806 Holtby).
I am also interested in any other SAYER families in N Yorks/Durham as it is
likely the family originates from the main Worsall branch in 1300s. The
majority of the family appear to have been farmers or Ag labs who in the mid
19th C moved to the Market Weighton/Holme on Spalding Moor areas, then on to
Hull in late 19th C.
I realise that whilst I have checked most of the more easily accessible
sources in North Yorkshire like the IGI, 1851/1881/1901 census returns I
have not yet checked out much of the 1841 Census or many of the MIs. I
wonder whether listers would be willing to check any indexes they might have
for the 1841 census and for MIs for any reference to SAYER/SAYRE.
Thank you in advance, much appreciated.
