I don't know about Canada, but in Australia we can go to our National
Library or to our local council library and log on to the Library Edition of
www.ancestry.com and we can access all the English Census information,
including copies of the original transcripts, for no charge. Covers all
Censuses back to 1841. A fantastic resource.
