Hello,
The following entry exists in the Burial Registers for Aldeburgh parish
church:
3rd. February 1860 GIBSON, R... "Man washed ashore could be R. Gibson from
name on medal".
Since you believe that he was in the Royal Navy, it would be worthwhile to
check for his service record at the PRO/TNA. This page explains what's
available:

(The link will break, so cut and paste everything between the <> signs into
the address bar of your browser.)
Regards,
Charles Fuller.

Subject: [ENG-SFK-IPSWICH] Capt.Ralph Coxon Gibson RN
Hello
I am looking for a buriel in Aldbrough for the above
named man, he was interred there in 1860.
I have no idea of the name of the church except he
would be C of E. To date I have not found his death
in any records although his son Rev John George Gibson
has mentioned the above information several times and
this information is also written on George's M.I. in
St Ebbas Church,Ebchester, Co Durham
I would be greatful if anyone could help me with this
brick wall, I have been trying for several years to
break it down.
The only concrete evidence I have on Ralph is his
marriage certificate and he was married in Tynemouth
to Margaret Rossiter on 12th June 1854, his father is
given as George Gibson also a mariner. He is listed
as Ralph Rossiter, no mention of the Coxon.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Marg
