Hello Neil,

Sorry to hear of your plight, hope you mend quickly.

Some weeks ago you published, the details of a family by the name of Marriott, primarily because of their preference for the letter 'M' when it came to naming their 11
children. All of which were christened at the Stowmarket Methodists Church. One of them was a Mathius Marriott, who had previously been one of my brick walls. His discovery, has subsequently led me to another 30+ ancestors, and a whole new tree in the USA.

You may also recall my asking you if you could do a look up for me regarding further Marriotts. This you kindly did for me. The outcome being that this one family, were the only Marriotts to have used this Chaple/Church.

Since that time although I have been able to trace the marriage details of most of the 11, they all having married in Parish Churches However, I have failed to find any data related to any births/Christenings of a single offspring. I only know who the children of one of their number was, from USA passenger lists.

The IGI cupboard is bare, as are the Parish records of at least two of the villages in which Marriotts have been recorded.

This brings me to believe that although they were prepared to marry in the established church, they prefferred to use the Methodist church for christenings, possibly they were Primitive Methodists.

Can you advise me on how I can track down Methodist records, and were the the Methodists at Stowmarket Primatives?

Les Buckle
