Greetings from Hampshire, England
For some time I have been wondering whether to buy a copy of the Suffolk
secton of the Doomsday book from Philimores. This is complete rather than
the partial transcript which you can get for the whole country for quite a
modest price and also see on-line. It does contain the Latin as well as it's
translation but this is a necessary evil as I don't know of another full
version which excludes the Latin text.
My question to the list is - as this book is the most expensive county in
the set can anyone tell me about it before I spend my money.
I suspect that it can be seen in Suffolk record offices.
The villages I am particularly interested in are Sutton & Combs.
Perhaps Neil has investigated the Stowmarket section and can tell us about
it.
Bye now,
Eileen
