I think the ISP can do more or less to control spam - at least that is what
I have read. Like you I employ message blocking and religiously go to the
bottom of the message and check the 'remove' or 'unsubscribe - sic as if you
had" and nowadays perhaps get a couple a day. We have unlimited internet
but I can imagine taking paying time to do this would be very annoying and
as you say the monikers of some of the sites are offensive much less the
sites. I used to forward all spam to our ISP abuse mail facility but again
this takes time. Here in the US the issue of spam is getting a lot of
discussion which may result in tighter controls. I think that you can buy
antispam filters but I have no experience with them and having something
else running in the background (in addition to the essential virus
protection system) can slow down web browsing.
