Sorry folks I have to labour the point on this one

You have had me checking Findmypast, regarding certificates, the link takes
one straight to GRO on line certificate order. Where I see they charge
£7.00 for a cert if ref numbers are supplied, or £10.00 with out ref
numbers. The only time I have ordered a cert from them it took ten days.
Where I have ordered a certifcate with or without ref numbers from the local
Registrars office, the cost has been £7.00, (The same). plus I always
enclose an s.a.e. the turn around general speaking is return of post. Where
they have searched and not found what I was expecting or I have given the
wrong parent name, they always phone me, even when I have ordered
certifcates from Belfast. When I did order a cert from Belfast for a great
uncle, they phoned me to say they had found two more siblings, did I want
any more certs, Great salesmanship.

For me, local any time. I have found Devon, Suffolk, Leeds, Belfast and
even East London more than helpful, Unsung heros, but we all have the choice
of where we shop.
