Hi Barry,

With a plea like that we will give it a go............

I have already looked in the 1901 census for George & Martha and am having
great difficulty finding them.....

George would have been 25-26 years........

Have you found them????????

I found Mary Helen's birth registration in Wortley June qtr of 1901.....

Was he a porter on the Grand Central Railway ???????
You could try and trace him through which ever company he worked
for......You state that your father was the youngest, what year was he
born?.. Could George have enlisted in the army during WW1???????

Have you found the appropriate GRO registrations for these people??????

I found a marriage for a Martha Skelton in Wortley for 1903....... I just
wonder if your story is half right?????
I had a look at Ecclesfield Parish Churches burial index and there are
certainly Skeltons in the area long before your family came on the scene so
Martha's marriage may not be of any significance........

Just thoughts....

Elaine in Ottawa.
