Hi all
I'm looking for a newspaper report (or how I might find it) relating to an attack on a woman (may have been rape) but not sure of the circumstances. When I was a mere teenager, I remember some hush hush story relating to my great aunt Harriet MULLINS - may have been around 1925/26 - I don't know what the outcome was but she married Martin MAHON in the Parish of St John, Sheffield Park on 5 September 1925 aged 21 and gave birth to a daughter on 18 January 1926 (some 4 months later). My other great aunt, Alice (Harriet's sister), kept the newspaper cutting by all accounts as my cousin knew of it when I mentioned the story to him a couple of years ago. He said he'd seen the newspaper cutting at some point but hadn't taken much notice of it, and as he was the one who sorted out Auntie Alice's papers after she died in 1993 he rooted throught the papers to find it but it wasn't there.
The mystery remains, indeed there was a newspaper cutting and we think that maybe the child Harriet gave birth to might not have been her husbands. Any ideas?
