Hi Kevin,
I was interested in the ROBERTS family you found in Ecclesall, whose
children were all born in Sheffield. I'm sure ROBERTS is a common name for
that area, but I'm going to ask anyway... Have you ever come across an
Elizabeth ROBERTS who married a Charles BARRACLOUGH in your research?
According to the I.G.I., their children were christened at Cathedral Saint
Peter in Sheffield (Films 6909644 and 471467 on Batch # 007757, 1774-1784,
Batch #150523, 1785-1789, and Batch # K007758,1789-1793):

Peter BARRACLOUGH , christened 22 Aug 1784 Cathedral Saint Peter, Sheffield
Sarah BARRACLOUGH, christened 10 Sep 1786 Cathedral Saint Peter, Sheffield
Mary BARRACLOUGH, christened 12 Apr 1789 Cathedral Saint Peter, Sheffield
Charlotte BARRACLOUGH, c17 Jul 1791 buried 19 Aug 1792 Cathedral Saint
Peter, Sheffield
Harriott BARRACLOUGH, christened 29 may 1796 Cathedral Saint Peter,
Sheffield

The I.G.I. listed a marriage date for Charles and Elizabeth (ROBERTS)
BARRACLOUGH as 11 Aug 1784 but it doesn't say where they were married.

I would love to hear from anyone with connections to this family. I am
trying to determine if the Mary BARRACLOUGH, christened 12 Apr1789, listed
above, could be the same Mary BARRACLOUGH who married Thomas ROBINSON at the
Pontefract parish (St Giles) on 7 Aug 1809. Thomas ROBINSON, born 14 May
1786 in Darfield, and Mary BARRACLOUGH (age 50 in 1841) had the following
children (also all christened at Cathedral St Peter's in Sheffield, except
for perhaps the youngest, Charles):

Charlotte Elizabeth ROBINSON b 5 Dec 1810 (married Richard HUNTINGTON)
John ROBINSON b. Sep 1813
William ROBINSON b. 24 Mar 1815
James ROBINSON b. 30 Oct 1817
George ROBINSON b.15 Apr 1820
Charles ROBINSON b 1823

In a Transcript of "professions and trades for Adwalton in Baines Directory
and Gazetteer Directory of 1822 Thomas ROBINSON is listed under Miscellany
of trades: Robinson, Thos, Silversmith. Thomas ROBINSON & family left
Sheffield and moved to the Adwalton and Drighlington area around 1821.
