Hello all, and Happy New Year,



I have just received a marriage certificate of James Farnsworth (Aged 22 )
and Martha Stead (aged 20) The residence at Marriage is West Bar. The
marriage (by Banns) took place on the 1st of September 1844 in Sheffield.



I have been trying to trace Martha's side for some time. Her father is given
as Geo(rge) occupation Hod ?. I presume carrier.



I previously had Martha's age as approx' 17 (inferred from '51 census) at
the time of her marriage, but the certificate says that she is 20.



I cannot find Martha or her Dad in the '41 census.



Can anyone help with this family please?

PS: I had not understood that Marriage by banns was a full wedding ceremony.
Could SKS please help me on this.
