Bitterley is part of www.southshropshire.gov.uk/ so looking at their site might bring up some local history links

I am a new list member with interests which have taken my search to Bitterley
in Shropshire. The family name that I am tracing is TONKS or TUNKS. I have
just found my ggggrandfather William Tonks on the 1851 census and he gives his
place of birth as Bitterley Shropshire. I have found on the IGI a William Tunks
born in August 1804 in Bitterley son of Richard and Mary Tunks and think that
this may be one and the same person.

Is there anyone on this list that has similar interests? If so please drop me
a line I would love to hear from you. Can anyone tell me anything about
Bitterley as I've never heard of it before. Is it a town or village? Any help
greatly appreciated.
