Ummmm! As we have list members researching other counties I feel that
perhaps we should advise everyone that this applies not only to Dorset
and Wiltshire, but also to Devon, Gloucestershire, Hampshire,
Oxfordshire, Somerset and many other counties in England. I haven't
mentioned Berkshire, because I understand that they've been sold
already!

It may be an old barrow boy's cliche - but I think it might be fair to
say that this offer may never be repeated again!!

But I would add: if you don't know what you are buying, don't just buy
for the sake of buying - you could well be disappointed ie they aren' a
genealogists panacea :-) First of all I would recommend that you have
a look at the Victoria County History website at:

http://www.ihrinfo.ac.uk/vch/

Also have a look at:

http://ihr.sas.ac.uk/vch/wilts/wilts2.html

to see what goes into an article for a parish and ask yourself if that
is the sort of information you want ie they include few names, except
maybe the local lords of the manor and maybe a few other notables in the
area.

But if you know what you want then get in now - at the present time I
note they are selling for about GBP38 - 60 for a second hand copy in
reasonable condition for some of the Wiltshire volumes: it is
interesting to note that the ones I would particularly like have already
gone or aren't available :-(

End of commercial!
