My name is Joe Crane and my Postal Address is 65 Cootamundra Drive, Mooloolaba, 4557, Queensland, Australia. I am seeking your help in telling me who the Joseph Millard, born about 1830, was who was tried and found guilty at the Epiphany Sessions of the Court held at Wells, Somerset on the 31st December, 1850. He was later transported to Western Australia as a convict on the "William Jardine" which sailed from Plymouth on the 3rd May, 1852.
I think that he may have been my great-grandfather. If so his father would have been Stephen Millard of Croscombe, Somerset and his mother Mary Millard (nee Foxwell) who I believe lived at Kilverstreet Plain, Croscombe, Somerset.
Joseph Millard's Death Certificate shows his parents as Mary and Stephen Millard but I believe that there were many Mary and Stephen Millards in Somerset. Then again there may not be many with a son called Joseph!
At this time my only request is to find out if the Joseph Millard convicted at Wells was the son of the earlier mentioned Stephen and Mary Millard (nee Foxwell).
I would very much appreciate any help you may give me.
Yours sincerely, Joe Crane.
