Since no one has replied to the list?
A Monumental Inscription. IMHO - although not always accurate and
sometimes even misleading, I have sometimes found them to be one of the
best sources of family history information, if you can find them!
Sometimes, however, our ancestors were too poor to be able to afford a
grave stone or permanent marker or soft stone combined with the wind,
weather and rain has taken its toll and damaged the grave stone so that
it becomes unreadable, which is when we hope that someone has recorded
the MI's before they deteriorated and that a transcription had been
deposited at your local library, the county record office and/or with
the Society of Genealogists.
Alternatively, a local history society or friends of the church or
whatever, might have recorded them, in which case you might have to
expand your search a little further, but there are still many graveyards
which have to be recorded.
Regards
Paul
Portland
IMHO = In my humble opinion
