Hi Bass, I am also looking for WHEELER. We have a Mary WHEELER in our
family who was born on Norfolk Island or perhaps on a ship going to Norfolk
Island. She came to the main land Australia when she was about 3 years of
age. Think she was born around 1808. May have been fathered by a convict
WHEELER or mother may have been a WHEELER. She came to Australia with John
Best and Mary Chippenham both convicts. Mary married into our family of
GRAYS. Don't suppose you have any info.
Regards Joan Gray

[ENG-SOM] Looking for Wheeler, Berrow, Somerset

Hello,
Looking for Nicholas Woodfen, alias Devereaux, vere Wheeler (convert)
I am trying to trace to a relation of mine who was martyred (h.d.q.) at
Tyburn on 21st January 1586 and was beatified among th 80 martyrs of
England, Scotland and Wales on 22nd November 1987 in St. Peters Basilica. I
was fortunate to be able to go there.
There is a family tree that traces this line, but it has been lost for a
number of years. I would like to try and re-trace it. Any help or advice
would be gratefully received (I'm new to this)
Nicholas was born in Leominster, Worcs, England circa 1550. I have copies
from the Propaganda Fide Archives (PFA) : Anglia 347, which list Nicholas
Wheeler, alias Woodfen, alias Deveraux. With an English translation.
I have traced my line back to Danial Wheeler (AFN: GZX-PW) born 1806 married
Louisa Conner (born 1812) in 1836, they had two children William Hancock and
Loiusa Small. Danial came from a long line of Clergy, who's names are meant
to be engraved in the church at Berrow Somerset.
Apologies for the long posting.
Can anyone please help.
Thank you
Bass Wheeler
