Hi Folks,
Although the reason for this query originated in Monmouthshire I am
hoping that there are some people on this list with the right knowledge that
may be able to help me.
The inventory to my 3x great grandfather's 1838 will is hand written but
very legible, and I would say written by a professional, and includes the
following sentence:-
"Deduct for Morgave on the land to pay interest at 5 per cent"
Does anyone know what the word Morgave meant. I once again stress that
the word is very clear and is not Mortgage, as has been suggested on another
list, although it could very well infer that.
Enjoy your day,
Llew
