I don't know how much help this would be - but there is a place named
'Boship' in East Sussex. It was perhaps once a hamlet, but now merely the
name of a hotel and roundabout at the junction of the A22, A267 and A271
between Lower Dicker (on the A22 London road out of Eastbourne), and
Hailsham.
It's the closest to 'Bowshepe' in Sussex anyway.
Regards
Brian

> George Watts was born about 1811 in "Bowshepe", which may be in Sussex or
Kent (but is not to be found in any map or gazetteer I have ever seen) or he
may have been born in Taunton, Somerset. What is certain is that he was
married to Minerva Sweet in Stoke St Gregory, Somerset, in 1830 and that is
where they stayed for the rest of their lives, as did several of their
children. Is anyone else interested in this family? Can anyone suggest
where Bowshepe may be? Or has anyone spotted a baptism for George Watts
anywhere in Somerset around the year 1811?
