| Ruth,
| The Walton enumerator was James Chancellor.
| Good hunting in 1841.

| Subject: [ENG-SOM] Census Query : Enumerators
| Could I ask where a census enumerator would have recorded himself?
| I ask this having searched Gordon Beavington's 1851 census <again> for
| my elusive Elisha Chancellor and note that the name of the enumerator
| for Walton is given as Chancellor, no first name. I can find his
| parents and some siblings but he would have been about 29,
| married/widowed and possibly even have left for Australia (he was
| certainly here in 1855 when he married my husband's g.grandmother).
| Still I will always wonder if he was the enumerator if I don't ask and
| realise I will have to chase him up on the 1841 census. Cheers Ruth
| Chancellor
