I suspect that this message that has so offended people was sent
automatically by the program David installed to everyone in his address
book. I personally received the same message - I have corresponded with
David a couple times and thus am probably in his address book as well as all
the lists to which he posts.

For those who do not know, or who have not noticed, David Cheek has
transcribed a dozen or more Somerset parish registers and generously posted
them on pbenyon web site for all of us to use at no cost. I have found many
of my ancestors and their families on these sites as he covers an area
(luckily for me) where my family was for generations, and I have been able
to sort out many other descendants of the family. I have e-mailed David a
couple times my thanks for his efforts, and he has replied that he
appreciated my thanks.

I hope all these "outraged" comments do not cause David to stop his generous
sharing of his efforts. He/she-who-cast-stones better not have ever sent a
"off subject" or superfluous message!! Your responses are just as "Spammy"
to the rest of us as the notice you are complaining about.
