Hello Lynne & Stan,
My G.G.G.Grandfather JAMES HOOKEY married JOAN MEARD
KILMINGTON (DEVON) 1784. allthough they married and had 3 children at
KILMINGTON neither JAMES or JOAN were born there, and I cannot find where
they came from, so MEARD is not a very common name and KILMINGTON being
close to SOMERSET & DORSET I am wondering if she came from one of thoses
counties so that is why I wrote to the SOMERSET mailing list just hoping
that there may be somebody else researching the same name. I am really
stuck
for ideas at the moment. I have checked the marriage entry in the parish
records and the original banns register at the DEVON record office and it
definatly states very clearly MEARD.
