Very high in my family tree is a gentleman known to us only as Henry Hext, born about 1620 in England. His descendents are mentioned in wills of the Rutledge family in America who's relatives still lived in Somerset.
Henry or his second or third generation may have been a British Soldier who lived around Charlestown.
We find no Hext in the Revolutionary War era near South Carolina so if he was there at that time, he may have been a Redcoat. Nevermind the connotations, we love him all the same and desire to know more about him. If there is a Hext family in Somerset, we may be cousins.
