Hi List,
My ancestor George Isaac LANGDON of West Coker was listed as the proprioter of
the George's Inn in West Coker in the 1871 census. The address is given as 12
Yeovil Road.
Does anyone know anything about the George Inn or know of a handy source of
information? I was wondering how old it might be, if it still exists and
anything else relating to either the Inn or my Langdon Ancestors.
Yeovil Road no longer appears to be called such but I'm guessing that it is
now the A30 running through the centre of West Coker. There appears to be a
Royal George Inn in West Coker today at 11 The High Street. Is the High
Street the A30 and could the Royal George Inn have been the George Inn?
I'd appreciate all help!
