Middlesex is London or the outskirts of London depending on the time. There
is little mystery why people move to a capital or other big centre -
especially when it is growing - work and the attraction of a "happening"
place. It still happens in Australia.

I understand that it is a rare English family that doesn't have members
that moved to London.
