Hi Alison, had some unexpected free time on Friday so thought I would do some more looking for your William JAMES and I believe I might have located him together with his father and mother and siblings.

I first looked again at the records held by Bath reference Library but couldn't really add to what I had already found soI went to Bath Record Office and had some success.

Parish - Walcot St Swithin.

William JAMES son of Thomas and Susanna baptised 27th October 1802 (reference DP wal sw 2/1/12)

I also came across another entry for William

William JAMES son of Thomas and Susanna baptised 2nd March 1807 born 7th October 1802 (reference DP wal sw 2/1/12)

I thinks it's fair to assume that they are one and the same but why two baptisms? perhaps the first was a private one that took place because he was poorly and not expected to live.

I checked for his parents and came across the following that also took place at St Swithins, Walcot

Thomas JAMES bachelor of this parish and Susanna BECK spinster of this parish married 16th December 1799.

Other children by Thomas and Susanna all baptised in the parish of Walcot, St Swithin (reference DP wal sw 2/1/12)

The first is a probable since no name for the mother was given.

Thomas JAMES son of Thomas baptised 6th March 1800 (looked for a burial but couldn't find one in Walcot St Swithins registers)

Thomas JAMES son of Thomas and Susanna baptised 27th December 1801

Henrietta JAMES daughter of Thomas and Susanna baptised 2nd March 1807 born 29th January 1807 (a double baptism with William)

Susannah JAMES daughter of Thomas and Susanna baptised 18th June 1809

Sarah JAMES daughter of Thomas and Susanna baptised 8th March 1812

I was hoping to come across Georgina JAMES who was a witness at William's wedding but didn't, I see there was a large gap between Thomas's baptism and Henrietta so perhaps they moved away or used another church.

Back to William and Sarah I then looked for their children, again parish Walcot, St Swithins

Thomas JAMES c1835, no sign.

William JAMES son of William and Sarah of 15 Brookleaze Buildings, Bath was baptised 11th December 1836, occupation of father shoemaker. (reference DP wal sw 2/1/30)

Mary Ann JAMES daughter of William and Sarah of 6 Lambridge Street, Bath, was baptised 19th May 1839, occupation of father labourer. (reference DP wal sw 2/1/34)
