You could start with looking for a marriage in the FreeBMD. He was born before
civil registration, so you should check the IGI at www.familysearch.org for his
birth. Then there is FreeREG. Since you don't know where he came from in
Somerset, a little research would help you ask more pertinent questions on the
list.

Google is a good place to start to find URLs for Somerset research.
