Thank you very much for your response. I have tracked all the Hares across Somerset, south Gloucestershire and some parts of Wiltshire. I know a few of the Bristol area records are missing for this time but evidence also points to some non conformist children in the family never being baptised. At the time however the Hares lived in only a few parishes in the area. The Simon in question is a bit of a puzzle as are the three other children baptised on 26 July 1812. Simon does not appear in any of the relevant parish registers other than for his burial. The three on the 26 July appear for their baptism and nothing else. I have two thoughts on Simon. Like you say it could be a mistake and he was possibly a Heal however he could also be an illegitimate child as was Joseph Hares. Joseph lived on and emigrated to America, however he has no baptism record. The location points to Simon being the son of Henry Hares but there is nothing else to help support this idea. The three baptis!
ed in 1812 may be indeed also be a mistaken entries but I tried to search for all three under alternative names in the 1841/1851 census with no luck. I fear all four children have fallen through a black hole and I may never be able to account for them.
