Hi Listers,
Still no luck with tracing Thomas Sims. He should be on the 1871 census. Could some one with access to the Staffordshire census for Hanley check for Thomas Sims aged about 7 .?
I have come to a halt as I can't find his father also named Thomas although he was a collier and I can't trace his mother's name.
Thomas William (or Henry) Ashton Sims was born In Hanley Staffs
about 1864.
Enlisted in the Royal Marines 1883
Married Alma Lottie Bull 1885 in Gravesend Kent
Died 1909 in Gravesend
I have found a ref. to a Thomas Simms in the 1881 Census aged 20
at a Longton Hall Farm Stafford. which might be him,but it gives his place of birth as Endon . Does anyone know if the farm and Endon are near Hanley? Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks , Joan.
