I recently received the birth certificate fro my great grandfather, Alfred
HALE, born April 1, 1860 at 25 Sussex Road, Brixton.

After hours and hours going through Civil Registration films I finally
located the marriage of his parents in the 4th quarter of 1841 - 19 years
earlier!

I don't like jumping to conclusions, but I am guessing that Alfred was not
the first child of James HALE and his wife Eleanor (nee REEVES). :)

Could SKS check the 1861 census for 25 SUSSEX ROAD to see how many other
little HALE children they produced before Alfred. On Alfred's birth
certificate his mother went by the name of Ellen HALE, but the 1881 census
has her as Eleanor so the earlier census may show either.

Long shot - does anyone have access to 1851 for the same address?
