Jenny I also have a Burnell on my tree not the answer you are looking for
but might be a help.
Benjamin ALLEN married 30 July 1835 in Chaldon (not far from Croydon)
he married Sarah BURNELL
There are several other Burnell marriages in this village.
Maybe your come from that village?
