Kathy,

I don't think that Woking Lodge was built (or at least completed) until after
the 1861 census. The land was sold to John RASTRICK in 1859. Woking Lodge
is not mentioned in the 1861 census.

Here's the entry from 1871 (RG10 807 f.4b Page 2)

9 Woking Lodge George Rastrick Head Unmar 48 Practicing Solicitor
Salop or Stafford
Henry Rastrick visitor Unmar 50 Landowner
Salop or Stafford
Mary Rastrick visitor Unmar 51 Landowner
Salop or Stafford
Charles F Jemmett visitor Unmar 27 Barrister at
Law Surrey, Kingston-upon -Thames
John F Jemmett visitor Unmar 23 Batchelor of
Arts Surrey, Kingston-upon -Thames
Matilda Hart serv Unmar 36
Ladysmaid Middx, Essin
Alice Tyler serv Unmar 27
Domestic servant Sussex, Peas Pottage
Maria Woodman serv Unmar 23 Domestic
servant Middx, Raislip
Mary Inwood serv Unmar 21 Domestic
servant Surrey, Effingham

An intriguing entry. I wonder how many private houses would have been
occupied by nine people all unmarried. Why would a single man require a
ladysmaid - or did Mary Rastrick bring her own maid with her?
Presumably the other three servants were all George's ?

Hope this is useful.
