Hi Everyone,
This is to congratulate WSFHS on their Family History Fair, which was held at Woking, yesterday.
I was most impressed by their research room and by the mass of data available for research.
I was looking for the birth and marriage of Thomas PRATT, possibly born in 1775 somewhere in Surrey. He is my 2x gt grandfather.
He was living in West Clandon and working as gamekeeper to Earl Onslow in 1841 and recorded as born in Surrey. Inconveniently, he died before the 1851 census!! With much help and patience of the West Surrey FHS members I was able to search and record all PRATT events for the neighbouring parishes. This search was aided by the comprehensive indexes supplied with the transcripts. I would congratulate and thank the members for their hard work.
I did *not* manage to locate Thomas. He was a gamekeeper, and as this is an occupation followed by son's of gamekeepers, Thomas could have been born in *any* of the parishes in Surrey.
May I ask that if any researcher notices a Thomas PRATT in their diggings would they kindly forward him to me. By the by, I now have a fairly sizable spreadsheet of PRATT data, but would like to gain some more. If I can help, then please contact me as I would be only too pleased to do so.
Thank you for reading my rather long missive.
