I haven't seen a reply to this enquiry on the List so apologies if someone
has already answered. Your email address indicates you are in the UK so,
depending on whether you are likely to be in the area, you may be able to
obtain a copy of the 1851 entry
yourself. Alternatively there may be some kind person willing to do this
for you.

Surrey History Centre holds copies of the original census for all years 1841
to 1901 inclusive for all of rural Surrey. (They do not hold the parts of
Surrey which are now in Greater London.) They will supply a copy by post
but I strongly recommend you obtain a quote before placing an order. SHC is
located at 130 Goldsworth Road, Woking, Surrey. Tel; 01483 518737
The main website is at:
http://www.surreycc.gov.uk/surreyhistoryservice

And a map and 'how to get there' details are at:
http://www.surreycc.gov.uk/sccwebsite/sccwspages.nsf/LookupWebPagesByTITLE_RTF/How+to+find+Surrey+History+Centre!opendocument
.
The Family Records Centre in London holds census records for all of England
and Wales and for all years 1841 to 1901 inclusive. The FRC is located at 1
Myddelton Street, London EC1R 1UW. Details of the location, opening hours,
and how to get there are on their website:
http://www.familyrecords.gov.uk/frc/

Both places hold indexes for all of the census. However if you can get the
Census reference beforehand it will be an advantage.

There's an LDS Centre in Nottingham:
http://www.lds.org.uk/genealogy/fhc/nottingham.htm
but I've no idea whether they are willing to order in Census films so you'd
need to check with them.

Alternatively, if you can wait long enough, and aren't put off by the price,
there are several commercial companies planning release of 1851 for Surrey
on CD. Almost certainly there will be no name indexes; street/place
indexes only, would be the norm.

Where can I get a copy of the original? (1851 Census)
My problem is...........
George Henry TAYLOR gave his age as 44 a widower at his 2nd marriage to
Alice HIDER in E Grinstead. He is a Bricklayer. His father William TAYLOR
Bailiff (Deceased) (at St Swithuns Church East Grinstead ) F Knight and
Julia Heasman were Witnesses) That would make him born in 1841/1842

However...........the 1901 census finds the family in Worksop Notts .Alice
is 45 born Forest Row Sussex and George Henry 55 which would make him born
in 1845/1846

And then...............
George Henry TAYLOR died in the Union Workhouse in Worksop aged 53 that
would make him born 1848/1849.
So I need to know if the William TAYLOR below is a Bailiff on the 1851
Census and that this George Henry TAYLOR is really mine!!.
