Hi Mike,
I think you might be looking for the 'Temperance' Society. See:

They were apparently a secret society. They do have a web site though if
you do a search.
The Knights Templar were a military and religious order originally founded
at the time of the crusades to Jerusalem, and offered a model for other
similar orders that followed at that time. They were forcibly disbanded,
and their Grand Master and other high officials executed, back in the 14th
century, when many of their assets were handed over to a rival order, the
Knights Hospitaller. Nowadays, there seem to be a number of different
outfits that have "Templars" in their title and who claim some sort of link
with those times - at any rate, I have come across several websites for
different 'flavours' of Templars (I found at least four just now by
Googling). I've no idea whether, or how, they relate to each other. All of
them appear to be initiatory orders of some kind - perhaps some may actually
be Masonic, or else just Masonic-like: I'm afraid I don't have the knowledge
to be able to say.
As Betty has suggested, I doubt they would be likely to reveal their records
to non-members. You could always ask anyway, but before you can start
looking, you need to know *which* Templar organisation it was!
