Hi Linda
I think I have a lead. Look at piece RG11/0614.
There are two Sarah Ann COOPERs in different households. Together they seem
to fit your case.
Glenmor Ho Brixton Rise Lambeth, Surrey, England 1341141/RG11/0614/57/6
1 Fredk. T. DAY Head M M 54 1827 Collar Manufact Emply 150 Hands (Shirtmkr)
Kingsland
2 Dora DAY Wife M F 45 1836 Yeovil, Somerset, England
...
15 Geo. COOPER Serv M M 36 1845 Gardner (Dom) Beddington, Surrey, England
16 Sarah Ann COOPER Serv M F 37 1844 Gardner Wife Candy, Bedford, England
No 11 Raglan Terrace Cornwall Road Lambeth, Surrey, England
1341141/RG11/0614/119/45
1 Charles H. COOPER Head M M 37 1844 Engine Driver Water Works Marylebone,
Middlesex, England
2 Louisa COOPER Wife M F 22 1859 Cowley, Middlesex, England
3 Alfraetta COOPER Daur F 11 1870 Scholar Bermondsey, Surrey, England
4 Charles H. COOPER Son M 8 1873 Scholar Bermondsey, Surrey, England
5 Celia A. COOPER Daur F 7 1874 Scholar Brixton, Surrey, England
6 Sarah A. COOPER Daur F 6 1875 Scholar Brixton, Surrey, England
7 Sarah A. SARGOOD Visitor F 12 1869 Scholar Cowley Peachey, Middlesex,
England
It looks as if you wd do well to investigate these two families. Perhaps
Sarah isn't really Charles' daughter? One cd imagine that it might have been
difficult to keep children at the DAY's.
You wd do well, too, to look out the images of these, just in case the
transcript is wrong.
There was a measure of good luck in finding these. I looked for households
with Sarah*COOPER*Surrey. I had in mind born Surrey (which George's wife
wasn't), but she was living there. I then looked for George (not Son) in the
result.
Having found George and Sarah Ann senior without children, I looked at those
with the same piece number.
Looking at Cliff's Board School maps, at 100% (it's a 6" to the mile map) I
can just see Cornwall Road and Geneva road at opposite corners of my screen.
Not sure what I've done to the scale in between times. It seems to be a
little over a mile as the crow flies. (The width of my screen shows 65
chains. 10 chains is a furlong. 80 chains to the mile).
Raglan Terrace was one of a fairly long list abolished in 1883, and subsumed
in Cornwall Road.

Subject: [SRY] New to List & desperately Seeking Sarah Ann COOPER
Hello Surrey List, I am in need on some advise and help in where to go next
?
My Gt Grandmother Sarah Ann COOPER is being elusive to me, according to
family she said she was born in Geneva Rd, Brixton. I have her marriage
cert. 17 April 1992 at the Emmanuel Church, Camberwell, she married Samuel
Russell. On her marr. cert. she said she was 18 yrs old and that her father
was George Cooper (dec) a labourer.
This should put her est. dob at abt 1874/5.
On the 1901 census she was happily married and living in North Weald age
26yrs, again putting her dob at abt 1874/5.
Her death cert. tells another story, she died in Kent in 1964 and the cert.
says she was 96 yrs, this puts her dob at abt 1868 ?? Now I am willing to
accept that being 96 yrs at death she had no say as to how old she was, so
am willing to forgive her daughter who was ´present at death´ may have made
a mistake abt her age.
Oh by the way in the 1901 census she said she was born Richmond, Surrey.
Now I have 3 certificates of various Sarah Ann COOPERS that I have bought
over the years, none of which have the father as George, or being born
Geneva Rd, and I have also paid the FRC to search for 3 years from 1873 to
1875 inc to search for a Sarah with father George but to no avail.
Where do I go next to try to find her. Is it possible that I might be able,
with the help on sks to search the parish registers closest to Geneva Rd, in
the hope that I might find her baptism ?
As I live in Sunny Spain, I am not able to do that at the moment, but can
anybody suggest anything else, or do I have to wait until the 1911 census in
released and see what she had to say for herself then as to where she was
born and how old she was ?????????
sorry to ramble, but having got back to the early 1600´s with other twigs of
my family tree, 1875 seems quite modern days.
In anticipation Linda in Southern Spain (on a very warm day, I might add) ha
