Hi All,

Just to let any SIMPSON related folk who may be descended from John and
Hannah SIMPSON of Hamsterley, There is a reunion for those people (myself
included) at the Gaunless Valley Resource Centre (next to The Stags Head
Hotel) The Slack, Butterknowle, on Saturday 23rd September.....

The story of John and Hannah was well recounted in The Northern Echo a
couple of weeks ago... For those who missed it (or who would not have seen
it due to living elsewhere, other than the north east of England) the story
goes that John and Hannah had 10 children around the 1850's Hannah was
recruited into the Church of the Latter Day Saints by someone who had come
over from Utah, USA..... Hannah, decided to take 5 of those children with
her to the US and started a new dynasty of SIMPSONs over there in 1864 and
left her husband with the other 5........ The eldest son was called
Valentine and through him, his wife, and his brothers and sisters, the
family grew and prospered..... The direct descendant of Valentine is called
Jay SIMPSON and, together with his wife are currently here in UK for an
extended holiday...... They have met hundreds of their 'distant' cousins
already and would love to meet more at the reunion....

If anyone who reads this thinks they may be related to Jay SIMPSON, and
would like more details.. they can email me off-list and I will give them
what details I have.....
