>Hi Brummie Listers ,
I'm new to the list and this is my very first posting . I must say just
reading this reminds me of that typically wonderful ' Brummie' humor I've
missed so much.
Now this discussion just makes me feel home sick !! Personally I don't
care who wins what !! I've an uncle who once played for the Blues in the
50's ,so I'm over all that stuff !
We got Football for breakfast, Dinner and tea , I'd still ask at the end of
the game " Who Won "? Mind you I was only 4 or 5 years old at the time
and its still a mystery to me even now ! ( Bet that gets somebody going
) But when a Brummie team is playing anywhere ,they get my
support without reservation. I's still a Brummie through and through eh
ar kid's ?
Now I'd better get back to the task of enquiring if anyone has info on my
ancestors at Brum.
Names are .. wait for it ........ TAYLOR ( not many of em about ;-)
) and SHELTON
This TAYLOR family lived in Bordesley Park during the early years of the
1900's and possibly in the later 1800's . John and wife Emma Taylor
nee Wheeler . John worked at as a Gun Barrel Maker ( according to my
great grandfathers birth cert ) Whilst Emma was a Chandelier Maker
. Their Children are : Ellen, GEORGE HENRY(mine) , Albert and Joseph .
Albert died at the Dardenells whilst Joseph was most likely a victim of
SID's.
My SHELTON family lived in Aston . Name of their House was
'Bellevista' or may have been 'Belleview'
At least in the late 1890's when my great grandmother Dorothy was born 1898.
Thomas Shelton was a Commisson Agent ( Posh name for a Turf Accountant or
Bookie ) plus his wife Mary Ann nee Taylor ( No relation to those first
mentioned as far as I know ) . Children of this couple :
Henrietta ( who was transported at 12 yoa for helping herself to an Orange
from a market barrow ) Evelyn , Eva, and DOROTHY ( Mine ) plus another
daughter whose name I've not heard of .
Mary Ann was Thomas Sheltons second wife ( somewhat junior to Thomas) his
first having died, but not before producing 6 son's which I've yet to
locate info on .
O.K. thats a potted history of the my ancestors at Brum , if anyone has
any information I'd love to hear from you .
Thank you for reading this ,
Regards
Margaret in sunny South Australia .
