They often gave the occupation of the person or in some cases just
the address they lived at.

Hi, I have been trying to research my g-g-g-g grandmother, Hephzibah
Hanford who was born in Lincolnshire but moved to live in Birmingham
apparently some time in the 1850s. I have just noticed that a Hepzibah
Hanford appears in something called the 'Birmingham, Warwickshire
Directory, 1855'. I'm guessing that this the same person because she
does appear as Hepzibah in other records. What is this directory and
what information could I expect to find out about her in there?

Thank you,
