Hi list

I wonder if someone could offer a pointer ot two to where I should look
next.

My ancestor, Thomas HINTON, b 1832 Birmingham, trained in London in the
1850s as a "Fancy Fork Filer". He then returned to Birmingham and
became a "Silver Spoon and Fork Filer". He must have shown some of his
brothers as three others had entered a similar trade by 1861.

By 1871, he was an "Electroplate Spoon Maker" and his sons went on to
follow him into the business by 1881. Thomas HINTON died 1888.

By 1891, two of his sons, Mark and Frederick, appear to have taken over
the business.
The Peck's Trade Directories of Birmingham list Thomas HINTON in 1896/7,
though I know there is often a delay between compiling and printing.
Then the Bennett's Business Directory for Warwickshire lists the
business as "Hinton Bros." Presumably Mark and Frederick.

I cannot find any other reference to this company and am completely lost
as to where to look next.

Any ideas? Any obvious sources I've forgotten about?!

Many thanks
Heather
