Mike,
You are quite right in naming the LMS railway's famous train " The Royal
Scot" which operated from London Euston station and Glasgow Central via Crewe
and Carlisle and vice versa.. Heading north all steam trains needed "shoving"
over Shap so that's what your relatives did from Tebay with the bankers.

The Cumberland & Westmorland Herald newspaper of Penrith, in it's website,
shows a photo of the Royal Scot going through the station there.

Trust you will find more information concerning the Blamires.
