I don't suppose we have any way of knowing what proportion of our
listmembers are also members of Cumbria FHS.

It is one of the cheapest family history societies to join and has an
excellent magazine (including lots of articles on Westmorland), lots of
indexes and transcriptions that can be bought through the post, and holds
enjoyable weekend conferences that are held in the Lake District. I believe
details of membership are still on the Genuki Cumberland site.

The reason I mention it is in case anyone interested did not see a recent
appeal in the CFHS Newsletter for volunteers to transcribe MIs from 15
Westmorland burial grounds. Obviously the larger ones would only be
practical for locals, but the smaller ones start with as few gravestones as
55 (Longsleddale) - manageable during a holiday(?!) in Cumbria :-)
