Hello Bob,

I have looked up my 1851 census books of Kendal and Staveley, and the only
Robert BEETHOM in Kendal was aged 17. He was born in Kendal and his parents
were Anthony and Harriet. I couldn't find a Richard in Kendal at all.

In Staveley there was a Richard BETHOM aged 41, Bobbin Turner, born in
Kendal, wife Ann 32, and daughter Hannah 9. Could these be your Richard's
parents I wonder?
