Hi Roger,
Now I am embarrassed.. You are so right to point out that Askham
is next to Lowther and not Asby ( Great or Little ) which are both close to
where I was born in the Lyvennet valley.
My brother went to Appleby and my sister with me went to Penrith
Grammar schools..Was Winifred Furness headmistress at Appleby when you were
there? She came from our village.......Maulds Meaburn.
