Subject: [WES] Old maps of Kendal (1911)

The Kendal Tourist Information Centre (based in the Town Hall, Highgate, Kendal) is a good source of local publications. I have today bought two recently reproduced maps which cover the whole of Kendal in 1911. They are a reduced version of the Ordnance Survey 1:2500 (25" to 1 mile) at a scale of 1:4340 (around 15" to 1 mile), so still a good big scale. The maps are produced by Alan Godfrey and cost £1.95 each + postage. I note that Appleby in 1911 is also available in this series.

If you want to contact the publisher direct, the address shown on the maps is: Alan Godfrey, 57-58 Spoor Street, Dunston, Gateshead NE11 9BD. Alternatively, the TIC in Kendal will, I'm sure, handle mail orders.

Cheers,
Nigel
