Just a stab in the dark: do you have any information on a William
PATTINSON, b.c.1838 in Greystoke CUL (according to the 1881)? It may be
that he was orphaned as a child so brought up by aunts in another part of
Cumberland or Westmorland. He ended up living in the Kirkby Thore/Long
Marton area where he died in 1901. He was my great grandfather. He wasn't
in any of the above areas in 1851 - I'm still on his trail!
