Where would you find many Roman Catholics in that area?.. Most Protestants
either went to C of E or Chapel ( Wesleyan) and were all buried in the
Churchyard regardless of their faith including non believers..Crosby
Ravensworth also has a cemetery nearby. Some of your Gowlings maybe buried
in other Parish Churchyards depending on where they actually died....The
Wesleyans (Methodists) founded and promoted the " Band of Hope" which
enlisted children to speak against drinking at their annual meeting in
Appleby.
