Hi all

I must thank all the people who replied to my query regarding Hill House. It would seem
that there may be quite a few buildings from grand residence to farm house that have had
the name Hill House. I guess any building sitting on any hill around Wisbech and the Fens,
could have had such a name, considering the rarity of high-ground Wisbech.

I believe that the Hill House that I am seeking is the one that was situated on Hill
Street in Wisbech. It was a three story residence during the later 19th century. At this
stage, I have proof if this was the place my GG Grandfather Joseph OSTLER and family were
boarding or visiting in 1859. Only the checking of the censuses and directories, or other
record of this time could indicate this.

>From what information I have received from others, I know this about Hill House on (upper)
Hill Street in Wisbech. In 1898 a man named RACEY was living there. From a picture of the
building prior to World War One, can be seen the name "Racey's and Wisbech Arcade". More
popularly known as Racey's Arcade, which was an indoor market place. The building itself
was demolished in 1927 and replaced by the Empire Theatre, which opened on the 22 NOV
1932.

>From one person, I have knowledge that there was a farmhouse around Wisbech that was also
known as Hill House.

Now I will travel to Sydney and follow up on research for Hill House.
