Hi Liz

When the surname is SMITH, an unusual forename like Julius Caesar certainly
makes the family easier to find, though its use is not exclusive to my
family.

As far as I know, his parents named him after Julius Caesar ROBBINS, uncle
of his mother, Sabra Ann SMITH nee DICKINSON. Sabra's mother died in
childbirth and as far as I can tell she spent at least some of her life
before marriage living with this uncle in Wisbech - and he left her about
£200 in his will, which would have been a lot of money to a labourer's wife!

Julius Caesar ROBBINS' parents gave all their children rather unusual
forenames, the others being: Marshall George (3 children of that name, 2
died as infants), Sabra, Deighton, Sempronius, Zadoc and Nightingale Ittai
(male) - all baptised Sutterton LIN. Marshall was their mother's maiden
name, but where the other names came from, I have no idea, though I have yet
to discover anything about the MARSHALL side of the family.

best wishes
Pauline
