Hello listers,

My line of research: Thomas White (b. 1805) married Anne, probably Hanstead. Their son, William Hanstead White (b. abt 1846) married Harriet Emma Bulman Retchless. Their son, John Thomas White (b. 1867) married Sarah Ann Haddon. They emigrated to Canada around 1898 and their daughter, Jessie White, was my grandmother.

John Thomas White served in the Imperial Army in India for 7 years. I have two portraits of him in uniform, dated 1890, taken by G.W. Lawrie & Co., Lucknow, Naini Tal & Mussoorie, India. His service would have ended before 1895, when he married Sarah Ann.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who could add to my knowledge of these people, especially something about my g-grandfather's service in India.
